Best Friend.
My best friend, what have we done? We ruined your life. Cut it short, stepped on it too. What have we done? Where do we go from here? You’ll be gone soon.Forever it seems. Forever.
None of this was your fault, you didn’t deserve a death so unsuitable. It’s not fair. And it never will be. We’ll never get a second chance to hope you could have done better with a small amount of help.
But you were the best, the best thing I ever had, my companion, my best friend, the only thing that would always love me, no matter how fucked up I was. No matter how little I saw you, you always loved me. Always remembered me. And now I’ll have to stand there in the room and watch you die.
I remember when we first met, you were so small, so young and frail. We watched you, and took care of you as you grew older. Rockiest moments when you got in fights. Others were scared, but we weren’t, we held onto you. We’re in a rut now. We let it slide for too long. It’s all our fault.
I hope the afterlife is kind. I want you to be pampered, everything you ever wanted right in front of you. I hope it’s all set up perfectly to suit your needs. You will be missed so much. More than I’ve ever missed any dog in my life. I’ll always remember you, Hazard.
